As an outcome of the downtown circulation project this small project will install several pedestrian scale decorative posts with LED light fixtures along identified blocks of Springfield’s downtown. The LED light fixtures have been identified for installation in this key location in Springfield’s downtown to improve safety, visibility, and aesthetic in the area. The City purchased the light fixtures from the City of San Diego for $85 each then renovated them for LED lighting. Combined, this creates a high quality light fixture with low energy use and a long life span at a low cost for the City to install and operate.
Installation of Phase 2 of the Downtown Lighting Project will start in late January and go through April 2017. Phase 2 will install lighting on Main Street between the Willamette River Bridge and Pioneer Parkway East, and also from 6th Street to 10th Street. Phase 2 lighting is anticipated to be turned on in May 2017.
Phase 1 of the project was completed March 2015 and included:
- Main Street from Pioneer Parkway East to 6th Street;
- 4th Street & South 4th Street from South A Street to Justice Center & Sprout!;
- 5th Street & South 5th Street from South A Street to City Hall & Sprout!; and
- 6th Street & South 6th Street from South A Street to City Hall
